What is PRO-MIX HPCC?

PRO-MIX® HPCC is a High Porosity – Chunk Coir growing medium that contains a base of sphagnum peat moss, chunk coir and perlite. It is ideal for large potted crops (4 inch – 10 cm or larger), hanging baskets and large containers when high water holding capacity is desired without sacrificing high air porosity. When irrigating, add water to PRO-MIX® HP® until it is saturated from top to bottom of the container. You will know you have accomplished this when water runs out of the drainage holes at the bottom of the container. Over time, allow the growing medium to dry-out without applying additional water.Yes, PRO-MIX® contains a starter fertilizer to help plants acclimate to a new rooting environment. We strongly recommended to initiate a fertilizer program within 7-10 days after planting. The fertilizer program you select should take into consideration water quality, crop type and the stage of plant growth. To use PRO-MIX® HP®, open the package, remove some PRO-MIX® product and place into a large tub or container. Lightly break up any clumps so that the PRO-MIX® is light and airy. Most growers prefer to add a small amount of water prior to filling containers.

What is the difference between PRO-MIX and Promix HP?

PRO-MIX® BX is a general-purpose growing medium, compared to PRO-MIX® HP® which is a High Porosity growing medium. These products are the same in pH and chemical properties. The difference is that PRO-MIX® HP® contains a higher percentage of perlite than PRO-MIX® BX. Features and Benefits of Pro Mix HP CC This high-performance blend is carefully crafted with a combination of coco coir, horticultural perlite, and peat moss, ensuring exceptional growth potential for your crops. When people say they use Pro-Mix for container gardening, what are they using the most? BX refers to it being more of a balanced mix as it has both perlite and peat moss. HP refers to a higher porosity as it has included perlite so less water retention.PRO-MIX® CX is a 100% coco-based growing media. With a unique blend of coir fiber and coir pith, it offers optimal water-holding capacity and porosity. Tailored for growers seeking precise control, its specialized formulation ensures an ideal environment for crop development.

Does PRO-MIX HP have nutrients?

PRO-MIX® HP MYCORRHIZAE™ contains a balanced nutrient charge to promote initial plant development. During the course of crop production, it is necessary to initiate a fertilization program. The program selected should consider water nutrient content, crop type and stage of plant development. I only use promix HP for starting seeds. It’s clean, porous, and has mycorrhizal fungi. I don’t think it’s very good on its own once plants get established past the seedling stage, I would use a mix with a little more peat and a little less perlite.

Is PRO-MIX HP good for seedlings?

PRO-MIX® HP® can be used for transplanting seedlings. However, we suggest PRO-MIX® FPX for seed starting and seed germination. Is PRO-MIX® HP® soilless? PRO-MIX® HP® is a peat-based growing medium formulated with a high percentage of perlite. OMRI-Listed and ready-to-use, this peat-based PRO-MIX organic seed starting mix is specially formulated with all natural ingredients. Ideal for germinating, vegetable, flower, herb seeds as well as for starting leaf, stem or root cuttings.
