Why did Monty Don have a stroke?
In February 2008, Don suffered a minor stroke at home. He had been feeling unwell since the previous Christmas, owing mostly to exhaustion from travelling to film Around the World in 80 Gardens. After suffering a minor stroke in 2008, he was forced to step down from presenting Gardeners’ World, and later told the Mail in 2011 that he didn’t want to be known as ‘the man who was ill.
