A: The most likely cause is limescale in the gearbox which can build up inside if water is left in. Try taking the end plug off and spraying a lubricant such as a 3 in 1 oil into the blanking plug end and also the end where the hose is connected. Age, excessive pressure, or poor water quality may eventually allow particles of contamination to enter the gear drive.
