Where is the best place to plant honesty?
Honesty plants prefer full sun to partial shade. In shadier areas, plants may become more leggy and produce fewer flowers, though they can still thrive with adequate light. These plants grow best in well-drained soil that’s moderately fertile. Honesty prefers a neutral to slightly alkaline pH. The Honesty plant is an easy to grow, low maintenance biennial. It will flower in the second season after planting, but it self seeds really easily, so once it blooms you get it into a cycle and have plants flowering and coming back year after year.
Can you grow honesty in pots?
Grow them on outside or in a cool greenhouse, but don’t leave them too long in their pots as this will inhibit their tap roots from forming properly. Plant them out in their final positions to let them develop over summer, autumn and winter, before flowering the following year. Keep the potting medium damp but not soaking wet until the bulbs sprout. Then, water whenever the soil dries out. Once the bulbs have sprouted, move them to indirect sunlight. Cool temperatures will keep them in bloom longer.
