Why are my Polyscias dying?
Yellow leaves are a sign of too much water or too little light. If there is too much water, the Polyscias will drop leaves. So be really careful not to overwater while caring for your Polyscias fabian, this will not benefit its health! Overwatering and root rot are the most likely cause of problems in Polyscias Scutellaria, since they are sensitive to wet soil. The leaves may also appear to be curling or drooping. Less often, yellow leaves are caused by underwatering, nutrient deficiencies, or pests.
How to repot Polyscias?
Repot every three years in the spring using a ‘Houseplant’ labelled compost and the next sized pot with adequate drainage. Hydrate the plant 24hrs before tinkering with the roots to prevent the risk of transplant shock. Potting up can be done all year-round, causes minimal disruption for roots, and has faster recovery. Repotting usually involves the removal of old potting mix, and is best done before or after the growing season (early Spring and late Autumn are ideal) as it’s far more disruptive for roots.
