What happens if you put too much Miracle-Gro on plants?
If you over apply nutrients within that time period, then you risk burning the roots/killing the plant because the roots will be saturated in more nutrients then the plant can possibly use (resulting in fertilizer burn). We also recommend applying fertilizer in the late fall, toward the end of October or early November. This application will catalyze one last frenzy of root growth and really give your plants some staying power through the cold months.
When should I put Miracle-Gro on my plants?
Liquid and water soluble plant foods should be applied every 7-14 days, and granular plant foods typically feed for a few months and are normally applied once or twice during the growing season. In areas where the ground freezes in the winter, give your plants their final feeding in early fall. Can you put Miracle-Gro plant food directly on soil?
Apply directly to the soil with 1 pump of Miracle-Gro® Indoor Plant Food for small pots or 2 pumps for larger pots (over 6 inches in diameter), then continue to water plants as usual. You can also apply with a watering can by mixing 4 pumps of plant food per one quart of water. With a Watering Can: Mix 1 tablespoon of Miracle-Gro® for every gallon of water. For All Flowers and Vegetables: Use 1 gallon for every 10 square feet of flowers and vegetables, every 7 to 14 days. For Roses: Use 1/2 gallon for small bushes. Use 1 gallon for large bushes.To apply to indoor plants, use the small end of the included scoop (1/2 tsp) and mix plant food with 1 gallon of water in a watering can. Reapply every 2 weeks. For outdoor plants, use the large end of the included scoop (1 1/2 tbsp) and mix with 1 1/2 gallons of water in a watering can. Reapply every 7 to 14 days.
