Is Erigeron Sea Breeze a perennial?
The Erigeron ‘Seabreeze’, also commonly known as Fleabane or Beach Aster, is a herbaceous perennial with a compact, spreading habit of waxy, tough blue-grey foliage which sits beneath masses of semi-double, bright lilac-pink flowers with a daisy-like shape and a large yellow centre disc. Mexican fleabane pairs beautifully with other sun-loving, drought-tolerant plants. Use Lavender ‘Hidcote’ and Nepeta racemosa ‘Walker’s Low’ and many sedums (Hylotelephium), for a long-lasting summer display. In partially shaded areas, it complements woodland plants like ferns and hostas.
Does Erigeron like sun or shade?
Cultivation. Grows well in a wide range of conditions, from poor to fertile soils. It is drought tolerant, although it will produce a larger mound of foliage and flowers if it doesn’t dry out for long periods in summer. It thrives in full sun, but will tolerate some shade. Thriving in both full sun and partial shade, this hardy plant is equally at home in well-drained soils and can even tolerate coastal conditions, making it a perfect choice for seaside gardens.
