Is Cornus sanguinea fruit edible?

As the seasons turn, its dark purple-black berries may catch the eye of curious foragers. However, while wildlife such as birds enjoy these fruits, they’re not suitable for human consumption and can cause digestive discomfort if eaten. Saw these in my backyard, are they blackberries or something poisonous? Blackberries, bramble berries, or some other variant. There are actually no toxic lookalikes for blackberries! The only similar looking fruits are raspberries or mulberries, which are also edible.
