Can you take cuttings from geums?
The easiest way to propagate geums is by division of clumps in spring. Large rosettes with good root systems should flower the same year. Species of geum (not named cultivars) can also be propagated by seed. Plants should be large enough to flower in year two or three. Propagation of geum coccineum through cuttings is quite successful; softwood cuttings from healthy, disease-free plants should be taken in spring or early summer. Cuttings should be placed in a well-drained soil mix, ensuring that the cut surface is in good contact with the medium.
