How long does camassia last?
Once planted, they will usually bloom for many years. After camassia finish flowering, the foliage gradually yellows and fades away. If you are growing it in a perennial garden, plan to have other plants hide the foliage and fill the gap left behind. Enjoy your camassia flowers in April, May and into June. What do you do with camassia after flowering?
Camassia will naturalise, growing more and more baby bulbs each year. If they’re left for too long, they might struggle to grow. In the summer once they’ve finished flowering and died back, lift the bulbs and divide them, replanting them elsewhere in the garden. When will they Flower? Plant camassia bulbs in autumn in a site that gets plenty of sun, though they will tolerate partial shade. Use a bulb planter or a trowel to make a hole for each bulb. Plant the bulbs at least 10-15cm (4-6in) deep (that’s about twice the height of the bulb) and space them at least 10cm (4in) apart.
