Orbea variegata, also known as the star flower, carrion flower, starfish cactus and toad cactus, is a species of flowering plant in the family Apocynaceae that is native to the coastal belt of the Western Cape, South Africa, growing actively during the winter rainfall season. Orbea has starfish-like flowers with striking markings. Stapelia is the largest of the group, with blooms up to 12 inches. The stapelia is sometimes called the corpse plant because of the unpleasant fragrance of its flowers.
