My hoyas root in water really fast, better than rooting in soil. You can even cut some of these in half to make a fuller plant if you wanted. My Hoyas tend to root out however they’re propped though. So you can’t really go wrong with any method of propagating these guys. Take a cutting from a healthy plant in spring/summer. This is the best time to propagate hoyas as it’s their growing season so they’ll develop roots and grow faster than during winter when they’re sleeping. Or just get a cup of water, fill it up and put that cutting in the water and let it sit And white roots will start to grow out of it.
Is Hoya Obovata hanging or climbing?

Even without a support, most hoya do their best to head on up.
