Can I grow chrysanthemums from seed?
To grow from seed, sow at least two months before first frost, or start indoors over the winter. The planting medium should be kept at 70 to 75°F, and seeds should germinate in one to three weeks. Usually, the chrysanthemum seedlings are transplanted after about a month of sowing. Hardy and half-hardy chrysanthemums grow back the following year if overwintered properly. Make sure hardy varieties overwinter in soil that doesn’t become waterlogged, and half-hardy varieties are overwintered under cover, such as in a greenhouse.Sow Chrysanthemum seeds under cover from February to April or directly in the garden in April.
