How do you take care of a silk plant?
Silk plants are one of the easier plant families when it comes to watering. They must be water 1-2 times every 14 hours. Water is a little too rare than a little too often, because the plants can easily tolerate if the soil is able to dry out every now and then. Steaming Is Key One of the best ways to restore the luster of your silk garment is through steaming. If your artificial plants are made of synthetic materials like plastic, rayon or polyester, longevity will depend on whether or not the material has been UV-treated. Outdoor artificial plants face more wear due to constant sun, wind, and rain exposure. Without UV protection, they may fade or deteriorate within 2–3 years. However, high-quality outdoor products treated with UV-resistant coatings can last 5–7 years or more, depending on care.Just like real plants, trees, and people, too much sun is not always a good thing for artificial plants. Certain artificial plants may fade in the sun, especially if they are exposed to extreme weather or long hours of sunlight. The length of time your plants last will also depend on the materials used to make them.
How to keep silk plants dust free?
Regular dusting: A weekly swipe with a microfiber cloth or feather duster keeps dust from settling. Pick a good location: Avoid placing fake plants near vents or windows where dust and grime accumulate more quickly. Use protective sprays: Use a silk plant cleaner or anti-static spray made for artificial greenery. When you take your plant home, we suggest that the first thing you do is spray it with an artificial plant cleaner. In spraying it, you will repel most dust particles that tend to stick to the faux foliage.
How to make silk plant cleaner?
You’ll want to mix equal parts water and rubbing alcohol, and since a little goes a long way, 2 ounces of each is really all you’ll need, and it’ll be enough for several silk plants. First, pour the water into the spray bottle. Then pour the rubbing alcohol into the spray bottle. If you detect any lingering odors, spray your silk flowers generously with 100% white vinegar (these are my favorite spray bottles I use for all my concoctions). This will get out any mustiness and dry odorless. I sprayed all of my stems just to be thorough. You can also use your vinegar spray to wipe off marks.
