Is Stephanotis an indoor or outdoor plant?
Stephanotis floribunda aka the Magascar Jasmine or Hawaiian Wedding Flower is a superb plant to be grown outdoors, indoors year round, or outside in the summer and indoors in the winter. I currently grow mine in a small 10 pot on my west facing windowsill. Its a super easy to grow plant that has pretty low needs, Stephanotis floribunda is a beautifully scented conservatory or house plant, producing a show of crisp white star-shaped blooms that last well. The frequency and duration of blooms depend heavily on the growing conditions, especially light and temperature.After your plant flowers, any seeds that formed can be collected and germinated in potting soil. Overwatering and root rot are the most likely cause of problems in Stephanotis, since they are sensitive to wet soil.Stephanotis is best grown on supportive frame or trellis. Thrives in warm, humid environments. In cooler climates, plant in a position sheltered from strong winds and frost.
Will Stephanotis flower again?
A summer-blooming plant, stephanotis makes vine growth and repeated flower flushes beginning in spring, and continuing through autumn. It thrives in full sun or part shade and can climb to 20 feet or more. Fertilize stephanotis once or twice a year in spring and summer. You can fertilize more frequently if you’d like; it will encourage the vine to grow faster and bloom better. Prune stephanotis whenever it starts to grow out of bounds.The Stephanotis floribunda enjoys steady moisture, but overwatering can lead to root rot. Wait until the top inch of soil has slightly dried out before watering again. It’s essential to strike a balance, as both underwatering and overwatering can affect the plant’s health.After your plant flowers, any seeds that formed can be collected and germinated in potting soil.
