What month do you plant Aubrieta?

When can I buy Aubrieta plants?
Our aubrieta plants are available from early spring when they can be planted straight out into the garden, although if supplied as young plants, please follow the instructions included within your parcel. Choose a sunny, elevated spot from which your aubrieta can cascade. These plants can easily be grown from seed. Although seeds may be started indoors in trays, this is unnecessary. It is far easier to sow this hardy perennial directly outdoors, assuming you want to grow it in the open ground. April to June is the best timeframe for sowing Aubrieta seeds outdoors.
What are good Aubrieta companion plants?
Sedum is a fantastic companion for Aubrieta, thriving in the same well-drained soil and full sun conditions. Both plants are drought-tolerant, requiring minimal watering once established, making them easy-care partners. The varied textures and colors of Sedum enhance the visual appeal of rock gardens. Aubrieta, commonly known as Rock Cress, is an evergreen groundcover perennial. Gray-green foliage forms soft mats, and the plants are covered with small violet, pink, or white flowers in spring. Native to the Mediterranean region, Aubrieta thrives best when planted in well-draining, alkaline soil in full sun.
What month does Aubretia flower?
General gardening advice suggests that Aubretia flowers anytime during March, April, even May. Not always the case. This is an image of an aubretia which I took on the 5th Feb, coming into flower on a sheltered wall. Aubretia is a spring flower and comes back year after year (perennial). It trails nicely down walls and out of pots. Phlox – presume you mean creeping phlox which is a ground cover plant – is late spring early summer – also perennial.Aubretia has a tendency, as it matures, to spread, with a bald patch in the centre and flowers around the outside. To bring it back into shape, it needs to be cut back.
